Welcome to my humble collection of Photoshop Tutorials and Tips. This site was developed after receiving several e-mails with questions about my photos and how they were done. Rather than writing the same thing over and over, I have put together a few tutorials here. At the moment, I'm working on a PC using Photoshop CS2, so if you are on a Mac, use the Command key instead of the Ctrl key and if you have another version, I don't know, sorry. Following tips and tricks were not
invented by me! I either saw them somewhere on the internet, read about
it in a book or someone showed me. If I remember who it was, I will
say so at the end of the tutorial. |

This tutorial was written by Scott Deardorff as a creative introduction to the smudge tool. The smudge tool is really an amazing tool. It can be used to blur, distort, erase, sharpen, paint, and add or subtract texture among other things. Posted: February 10, 2006 (tested with PS CS/CS2) |

Color spots on black and white Starting with a regular color photo in RGB, I will show several different approaches to create a black and white photo with some color spots. Using the crop tool from a technical point of view This article is not intended to teach you how to enhance the design by cropping but simply a list of the functions and how to use the crop tool. Getting a "handle" on the gradient mask Adding a gradient mask to an adjustment layer or any layer really, can be very useful but getting the angle right the first time, seems to be a bit of trial and error. If it's exactly 90 degree, holding down the Shift key will keep the gradient in constrain but what if it's not 90 degree? Posted: October 15, 2005 (tested with PS CS2) |

I was inspired by the "Out of Bounds" images I saw online, so I had to try it myself. To share my technique, I've created this tutorial based on the sample of my stone lion seen in the photo gallery. Posted: October 14, 2005 (tested with PS CS2) |

Window arrangement for photo comparison To compare different photos and decide which one to keep, it would be convenient to have them open and visible at the same time. Here I show you one way to do that with Photoshop. Posted: October 14, 2005 (tested with PS CS2) |

Ever created a shadow, then used the gradient tool to blend it ever so slightly and ended up with a black and white rainbow? The colours should be smooth but the result is serious banding. Fortunately, there is a simple fix. Updated: November 8, 2005 (tested with PS CS2) |
